Athena Catriz is 3rd Runner up in Miss Summer International 2015!
A spot of good news for Pinoy pageant fans: a Filipina placed high in an international pageant held in Colombia days ago! Athena Catriz, a freelance model landed at 4th place. Colombia’s very own Maria Alejandra Serrano Sabogal won the crown.
What crown is this, you ask?
It’s the Miss Summer International 2015, a young pageant that is still in it’s early years. Its theme is tourism and it’s focus is promoting the summer destinations of each country that competes in the pageant. From what I gleaned after reading a Colombian newspaper, some 20 girls fought for the crown this year.
And who is Athena Catriz apart from being so obviously beautiful?
Well she is a 24-year-old pageant warrior with a string of titles . Here are some of them:
Summer Bodies 2012 – Grand winner
Sta. Lucia Sexybodies 2013 – Grand winner
Elite Body Philippines 2012 – 1st Runner up
Ms. Sophie Paris Philippines 2012 – 2nd Runner up
Ms. Slimmers World Body Beautiful 2012 Award
and… Tourism Ambassador and runner-up during Miss Global Philippines 2014!
According to a Missosology thread I read, Athena Catriz is a Masscomm student at Assumption College, Makati. She majored in Media Production.
Congratulations Athena Catriz for your gift to Pinoy pageant fans!

Hello po, Miss Joyce…sobrand dami ko nang napost sa iba’t ibang blogs nyo. I just got a good time lang talaga today to share my insights about the crowning on March 20 sa BBP. I still couldn’t get over about Hannah not crowned pero as I’ve posted sa isa nyong blog, I already shared the possible reasons why.
I checked wikipedia about BBP 2001 and something caught my attention:
Post-Pageant Notes[edit]
Bb. Pilipinas Universe, Zorayda Ruth Andam competed at Miss Universe 2001 but unplaced
Bb. Pilipinas World, Gilrhea Quinzon competed at Miss World 2001 but unplaced
Bb. Pilipinas International, Maricarl Tolosa competed at Miss International 2001 but unplaced
Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner-up, Michelle Reyes was appointed as Bb. Pilipinas Tourism International 2001 competed at Miss Tourism International 2001 and was crowned Miss Tourism International 2001.
Bb. Pilipinas 2nd Runner-up, Maricar Balagtas was appointed as Bb. Pilipinas Globe competed at Miss Globe International 2001 and was crowned Miss Globe International 2001
Based on that information, na-appreciate ko na ngayon kung gaano ka-importante and role ng mga runners-up. Naisip ko lang kasi dati na what if, they will choose nalang sana top 10 semi-finalists and eventually give 5 crowns. Tapos, yung hindi makakuha, magiging automatic runners-up nalang katulad ng ginagawa sa Miss Earth.
Pero, Binibining Pilipinas 2001 really is an eye opener to me not only because I just found out na Madame pala allowed runners-up to be sent to minor pageants before. It means, Hannah could be able to compete abroad if BBP will think and plan about it.
It is just so amusing to know na sa 2001 batch, wala sa tatlong mga reyna ang nakapasok man lang sa semis ng kanilang respective competitions – unplaced silang lahat. Pero ang 1st runner up na si Michelle Reyes (who happened to be an actress already) won the Miss Tourism International 2001 (not the Malaysian edition) and eventually the 2nd runner-up, Maricar Balagtas (who made a major comeback sa BBP 2004 and became MUP 2004) won Miss Globe International 2001 – the oldest pageant in the planet! FYI – Maricar was a three-timer, too. Parang si Hannah lang – in 2000 she was unplaced, in 2001 she was 2nd runner-up sa BBP, and in 2004 she was BBP Universe. Magka-batch pa pala sila nila Lara Quigaman nung 2001 pero unplaced pa si Lara during that time:)
So, why shouldn’t BBP allow both Hannah and Kimverlyn to be fielded in minor pageants? Sayang naman….
***on Michelle Reyes….she’s not an actress by the way:) I just thought of Daisy Reyes, former BBP World:)
Miss Joyce, nawindang ang aking mundo just this week to read some threads about Global Beauties, Miss Supra Organization, and Miss Grand International Organization making some moves to destroy Miss Earth daw…and maraming mga kumakalat na threads ng mga countries na nagdrop na ng frachises ng Miss Grand International. Ang gossip, gusto ni Nawat na maungusan pa ang Miss Earth…if these were true, nangangamba ako sa chances ng mga pambato natin sa Miss Supra at Miss Grand International:(
Well it is also a competition between pageants also but to the point of planning to destroy another pageant, di na yan Tama. The best thing Miss Earth can do is to continue upholding high standards, walang luto, walang scandal. Ok lang ang controversy as long as it is not serious. The best we can do now is to observe and support all legitimate pageants
Syanga naman…that’s true:) nagworry lang talaga ako kasi kaliwa at kanan ang mga threads tungkol sa ganung issue. Ahm..one thing din po pala that made me worried is yung post ng mga psychics…though I do not really believe on what psychics would say pero last year nahulaan nila na si Bianca Guidotti ay magiging clapper sa MI at si Mary Jean Lastimosa ay mainclude sa top 10. Nahulaan din nila na mananalo si Neil Perez sa Mister International. This time around, sa boxing naman po, they foretold na mananalo daw si Manny over Floyd in a very controversial bout. But, the site mentioned na walang makakuha na major crown this year ang ating mga reyna and ang magiging 3rd Miss Universe natin ay sa 2017 pa. Here is the site po: http://fearlessprediction.blogspot.com/2015/01/binibining-pilipinas-2015.html
What is your view on this?
I am like you, I am not superstitious but I do believe in the gift of prophesy. God has blessed certain people with strong prophetic ability. The question is, are they using this ability to bring people closer to Him? Or are they using it to help improve the lives of others? To encourage?
Hehehe, thoughts ko lang naman un. I do respect those who seem to predict so well…. but for me, the bottom line is the word of God. That is where I put my faith. Sa kanya din naman nanggaling ang gift of prophesy so siya pa rin ang boss. 😄😍😀😁😃🐶🐱😅💝
Sa bagay…may point kau jan, Miss Joyce…hehehe…pang-Lenten lang ang peg:) Kahit gaano pa talaga karaming predictions ang magsasabing hindi tayo makakasungkit ng korona this time, only God can tell…and with this batch na talaga namang competitive….siguro naman kahit runner-up placements nalang meron talaga:) The same site also mentioned na hindi makukuha ni Jamie Herrel ang korona but at the end of the article, they told na if Jamie will do well in the Q&A, may malaking chance na makokoranahan nga sya:) and it happened….the thought is, Miss Earth is a Filipino pageant. Jamie won not because she is a Filipina. The way Miss Earth chooses its winner is not so much on beauty but on how the contender answers the question. It’s good that Jamie got it:)
Going back to the predictions and looking at the Miss International stint of Janicel Lubina, sana si Janicel ang puputol ng sumpa:) Nahihilo na nga ang mga online fanatics kung sino kina Philippines, Venezuela, at Colombia ang kukuha ng korona..hahaha:)
Reblogged this on Wrath of The Guardians.
She is runner-up to Almirante who also brought honors to our country being 2nd runner-up sa international pageant nya months ago…
Miss Joyce, nung 2013…early pa lang, may mga nanalo na sa mga minor pageants..and nung nagmajor pageants na…nagtuloy-tuloy na ang mga panalo natin. Many pageant observers tell na baka maulit daw ngayong year yung victory year natin nung 2015. What are your views about this?
