My Summer Juicing Adventure with Hurom Begins with a Pina Banana Coolada!

With summer slowly creeping up on us, I’ve decided to find great ways to cool off with my fabulous Hurom Juicer! I’ll be creating concoctions with my Hurom every week and sharing it with you.

If you don’t have a Hurom, you can still use my recipes on any juicer but if you decide to get a Hurom, you won’t regret it. With its SST or Slow Squeezing Technology this juicer presses your fruit or veggies at 40 RPM. Why is that important? It means that the nutrients won’t be destroyed. A regular juicer juices at a higher speed which involves heat and that heat can destroy the healthy things in your juice.

Ooooh lala! I had lots of fun with my first summer juice offering. I loooove Piña Colodas because that’s all I drank during my honeymoon. It brings warm and fuzzy memories to me. Or I should say COOL and fuzzy memories, LOL!

For this juice, I worked with fruits that I had put in the freezer for a couple hours. Since I don’t believe in sugar I never add any sugar or honey to my concoctions. Fruits are filled with their own sugar called fructose so there really is no need to sweeten a juice further.


This is coconut milk brand that I like: Thai Heritage. I use it for cooking as well!

Of course it is better if you can buy desiccated coconut from the palengke and hand-squeeze it to get coconut milk. Or… you can actually use the Hurom itself (using the fine strainer) to get coconut milk. But if you are in a rush like me, then you can just buy coconut milk in the grocery. There are a few brands out there but this one above is my favorite – Thai Heritage.


Pour the coconut milk in first….

If you don’t like coconut milk, for some reason or other, you can always replace it with regular milk, soy milk, almond milk or any other milk. The taste will be different of course but if you like it then that’s all that matters! In this particular drink, I poured the coconut milk in first before juicing the fruits.


Put in the fruits alternating the pineapple, banana and mango chunks

Now it’s time to put the fruit into your Hurom Juicer. I like to alternate the fruit chunks for a better mix.


The Hurom works like a mixer as well!

The one thing I REALLY like about my Hurom is the cover on it’s juicing spout. It prevents the juice from pouring out into the container. That means you can let the juice mix in the body of the machine for a while, until everything is thoroughly combined. Open the cover and the juice tumbles out into the container!


Voila! Your Pina Banana Coolada is ready!

Don’t forget to add a little pizzazz to your drink with garnishes and cool glasses. I used pineapple chunks and baby umbrellas. Coupled with a sunny smile from my kasambahay Rona, my Pina Banana Cooladas brightened up my day!
