guys, remember that the US has won the American- owned Miss Universe crown a record seven times already.and in the 61 editions of the pageant, failed to enter the semis only in 1957, 1976, 1999, 2002 and 2010. So why the ruckus?
our girls most often than not, make the cut every year save for 2007 and 2010 because they know what the Miss Earth is looking for but I admit that it’s a damn if you do, damn if you don’t situation for Miss Philippines- earth
The gain credibility, Miss Earth should not include Pinoys in their judging panel. They should also let other organization run the Philippine franchise. Most importantly, they should improve their show and venue. Lumalabas mas magara at mas magarbo pa ang Binibining Pilipinas kesa sa kanila.
as regards production values, i agree with u. at least miss world phils is trying to match or exceed bpci. ms phils earth should do the same…
Candidates who deserved their placements like Stephanie (top 12 yes, but top 4?) are unfortunately, lumped together with those girls whose performance in the finals is deemed top 4 material (yes, I’m referring to you Athena) makes you scratch your head in wonder…one, what were the judges thinking and two, what really goes on in the final tally of the scores. The favoritism. Joyce, is not just awkward, it’s embarrassing!
You’re a pageant veteran (why you didn’t make it to the semis during your Miss Universe stint remains one of life’s big mysteries to me!) so I’m sure you
have ambivalent feelings about what’s happening with Miss Earth. You’re happy for your fellow pinays of course but you also probably feel bad for those more deserving candidates who every year don’t get a chance to shine because their placement was usurped by the hometown girl diva?
freddie you are so right about how i feel. but its not Athena or Stephany’s fault. they HAVE to do their best to win or place. so it puts them in the worst spot. for me, ito ung pinaka drawback ng miss earth, that favoritism for our girl is a problem. i wonder what solution can fix it..
Hi Ms. Joyce! I think Ms Earth shouldn’t be held in the Philippines anymore. i hope other countries like Vietnam would host it instead. This would avoid the favoritism issue, i hope đŸ™‚
I share the same sentiments regarding the annual Miss Earth results. I truly think there are more deserving girls than ours and it emabarrasses me to see them just go home somewhat neglected. Being nationalistic is not against being just and fair. I hope ME will do something to correct this. It’s credibility is in jeopardy.
Well, malakas kasi talaga si Stephany and I’m sure she fought tooth and nail in this pageant and whevever she went, the Pinoys cheered loudest for her so I think malaking tulong yun sa kanya. But yes, leaving out personalities and just looking at it on a national level, I too would feel sore if the country where the pageant originated always gave high placements to its contestants…
One win, four finalists and five semi-finalists! For a 12 year old beauty competition, the Filipinas indeed have the best record at Miss Earth. Of course, this feat leaves a subtle bad taste in the mouth when you consider that the pageant has been held in the Philippines 10 times in the past 12 years.
and Miss Earth is the brainchild of Pinoys. so yes, it is a bit awkward if we win tooo much but what do u do when u have such a strong candidate like Stephanie? haaaay…
