Now that the Ms Universe 2009 is over and the post-pageant noise is beginning to die down (sort of), it’s time to focus on the next event – The Ms Tourism Queen International which is currently being held in Zhengzhou, China.
Our candidate, Ms Philippines Earth Air 2008 Ma. Razel Eguia performed well in the Evening Gown competition held last August 24th. She was 2nd runner-up in the pre-pageant gown event that was won by Venezuela (Venezuela won the same award last year – hmmm, that sounds familiar…) First-runner up was Ms China.

Ms Philippines Earth Air 2009 Razel Eguia placing in the top three is quite a feat in this pageant which has 98 candidates from all over the world. A friend of mine jokes that the Tourism Queen organizers have a penchant for ‘inventing’ countries. Not quite true, but SOOO funny!!!
But the Ms Tourism Queen International does have candidates from what they call “Special Tourism Regions” like the Altai Republic, Bali, Siberia, Phuket etc. Nice idea but not quite fair. For example, Thailand has 2 representatives – Ms Thailand and Ms Phuket. That gives Thailand more chances of winning. Oh, did I mention that there is a Special Tourism Region called Chuvasia? I’m not making you chuva at all!

BIKINI WINNERS: 2nd Runner-up Ukraine, Winner Bali and1st Runner-up Ms Russia
MISS BIKINI was held on August 17, 2009. Ms Bali took home the award. 1st Runner-up was Ms Russia and 2nd Runner-up honors went to Ms Ukraine.

TALENT WINNERS: 1st Runner-up Zimbabwe, Winner Sri Lanka and 2nd Runner-up Ms New Zealand
MISS TALENT was on August 18, 2009 in the city of LouHe. Ms Sri Lanka won with Ms New Zealand and Ms Zimbabwe as 1st and 2nd Runners-up respectively

CHARM WINNERS: 2nd Runner-up Ms Sweden, Winner Ms Brazil and 1st Runner-up Ms Martinique
MISS CHARM, held on August 20, 2009 was presented to Ms Brazil. Her 1st and 2nd Runners-up were Ms Martinique and Ms Sweden respectively.

MISS DISCO 2nd Runner-up Ms India, Winner Ms Guinea and 1st Runner-up France
MISS DISCO – How are we to take this pageant seriously if they have a Miss Disco Queen award? Well, I’m sure Ms Guinea Safia Souare takes it seriously because she won it! Her 1st Runner-up is Ms France and 2nd Runner-up is Ms India.
